Transport: Departure

Ljubljana Puppet Theatre (Slovenia)

4. June [14:00 & 20:30]
5. June [14:00 & 20:30]
KLODEN TEATER

Youth and adults from 14 years.

Transport: Departure is based on the true story of the Fužir family from Prevalje, who lost their home in a flood. Using audio recordings of their testimony, we hear water cracking through walls and the current that, with unstoppable force, breaks through human hubris and reckless development. [The Transport performances complement each other in such a way that they really should be experienced as two parts of a whole, which is why GoFigure offers a “Transport duo ticket” at a reduced price.]

On stage, an intimate, tightly framed space opens up where miniatures, models, and live sound form an intersection between realism and fiction. Details vibrate; houses, lights, water, and voices weave together into a landscape that breathes and falls apart at the same time.

The ecological theme is concrete and embodied; it appears as loss, as movement, as fragility. The audience is drawn into a close encounter with nature’s relentless force, where human structures appear temporary and fragile within an ecosystem that always finds its way back to balance.

Transport project is an international hyperrealistic miniature-theatre project in which six European institutional theatres collaborate to create an equal number of performances. The project examines transport as a phenomenon – both as a driving force of globalisation and as a source of environmental problems. Through visual and puppet-theatre-based expressions, the performances address themes such as climate, war, resource use, and identity.
