Skipbrudden

We can hear the sound of celebration and revelry on a boat floating on a sea of green fishing nets. As the boat reaches the edge of the world, it doesn’t plunge off, but instead flips upside down and floats on the underside of the sea. A storm arises, causing the boat to sink, but because this world is inverted, it sinks upwards and disappears into the darkness. The audience now find themselves in an obscure, alternative world where the theme can unfold through free association.

Skipbrudden is a visual and poetic performance about addiction and obsessions, driven by music, light, objects, and materials. It takes place within a person’s mind, where his thoughts and feelings take physical form in the materials, images, and characters he encounters.

The performance is a co-production between Kompani Oval, Cie de L’Être, Figurteatret i Nordland, and Fossekleiva Kultursenter, and is supported by SPENN, Kulturdirektoratet/the Arts Council Norway, Norsk skuespillersenter, Norsk skuespillerforbund, and Bergesenstiftelsen.
